Tana studied classical drawing under Nerina Simi in Florence in the 1970s and then in London at the City and Guilds School. She was made an honorary member of the South London Artists and in 2008 was elected a full member of AFAS. She has exhibited in Camberwell and at the Mall Galleries and, more recently, at the Woodhay Gallery in Newbury, as well as at venues in Wiltshire and Germany. She works mainly in oils and charcoal and is particularly drawn to subjects with a human interest and to scenes from her travels abroad. In 2007 she won the Chemring Prize for her works in oils and the following year was the runner-up.
